A Fursona is the furry representation of a person. It is how a person sees themselves if they were a furry. A fursona can mean different things to different people. A fursona may or may not be role-played, as some people simply use their fursona as an avatar. Some people have multiple fursonas, though, most only have one. A person's fursona can change over time, and it's not uncommon for people to go through a multitude of different fursonas.

Fursonas in a Spiritual Context[edit | edit source]

Some people regard a certain animal or creature to be part of them. This could be in a manner that is physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, or a combination of two or more of these traits. The scientific term for this is therianthropy.

Fursonas as Avatars[edit | edit source]

Another usage of fursonas is simply as a visual representation. There is no real overall determining factor in what animal is chosen, and can range from personal symbolism to pure aesthetics.
